Happy Birthday, Kaden!
Kaden turned eight on April 11th and we had a great day celebrating. He wanted to go to Golden Star for a celebratory lunch (yep, the same Chinese restaurant the kids chose to dine on Valentine's Day). We had a lovely lunch together and were all surprised when the waitress told us a kind stranger had paid for our meal! It's hard to believe that someone who doesn't even know our family was nice enough to foot the bill for a family of five. I am looking forward to the day when we can return the favor by doing this for another family.
This year, instead of the traditional homemade chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that is usually made, Kaden requested an ice-cream cake. Since we do not have a local ice-cream store (I love Baskin Robbins' ice-cream cakes), both Da and I pitched-in on the making of it and it turned out to be pretty simple. Unfortunately, we frosted it with traditional frosting only to find out that Kaden had envisioned it to have an ice-cream layer of frosting. He said he still enjoyed it though, and I think everyone else did too. Granny and Papa joined us for present opening and cake eating.
Kaden is a wonderful little boy. He is extremely kind and sensitive to others (human and animal), loves to draw, has a vivid imagination, and is easy to laugh. In school, he loves to be read to (especially poetry) and enjoys copywork, but does not like Math. He loves talking about Science with Da. Eliza is crazy about him, and often climbs into his lap to snuggle or watch a show together. He and Mary Jane are good, good friends (even though it pains MJ to admit to this—ha-ha!). He is a joy to have in our family, and I couldn't imagine a day without him.
